Sockmonkey.net Review + Giveaway

Sockmonkey.net Review and Giveaway!

I was so lucky, I got to work with a great company called Sockmonkey.net this week. I received a Deluxe do it yourself Sock Monkey kit from Tamara at Sockmonkey.net to make and review.
The kit shown above is the kit that I received. It has everything in it that I needed to make a very cool sock monkey. It came with:

* Custom step by step instruction sheet
* 1st quality, authenticRockford red heel socks
Stuffing (new premium quality Poly-fil)
* Buttons for eyes
* Black embroidery floss for eyelashes/brows
* Needle and thread
* Pom-pom for cap
* Red yarn for bow at neck
* Adoption certificate
* Postcard / Example photo

So many things fit in that tiny little bag. My husband and I aren't overly crafty... in fact I am not sure we had done anything crafty before this little guy. Needless to say we were like "WHOA" when we saw everything. The step by step guide helps immensely, it shows you exactly what you need to know to make your Sock Monkey easily. Keep in mind that even though this wasn't overly difficult, it was still very time consuming. It took my husband and I about 5 hours to make the little guy, and I have a blister on my thumb lol but totally worth it!

As we started assembling our monkey we did come across a minor implication. The directions refer to sock #1 and sock #2 ... we had no idea which sock was supposed to be which and it took us a good 20 mins to figure it out. I am not sure if it is because we were a little bit dense or if it would be confusing to everyone. Once we figured it out we were off with the speed of lions... or turtles. My deluxe kit came pre-sewn ... this does not mean that I had to do no sewing... in fact there was quite a bit of sewing but it did help because I didn't need to figure out where I was supposed to sew the legs and arms ect. That was all done for me. All I had to do was cut them out, turn them right side out and stuff them and sew them. We did have an issue turning the tail right side out lol. It was quite comical. The tail piece is very thin and quite long, when we had to turn it wrong side out we found it is very difficult due to how thin it is. There is no way to get your fingers in there to flip it right side out, I think this took the longest.  I spent about an hour trying to turn the tail right side out.

With how long our Sock Monkey took us and how inept we are with crafts.... We are incredibly proud of our Sock Monkey... We named him Max. It just seemed fitting.

Meet Max!

Max enjoys long walks on the beach, saving man kind and being snuggled.
Max is looking for a nice lady friend to grow old with, with no baby daddy monkey drama!
