All Things Paper Blog

Hey guys I just wanted to take a moment and tip you off to a pretty awesome little blog. Its called All Things Paper, if you are into crafty things, this blog will be right up your alley. Its ran by a very nice person, and its an awesome looking blog if I must say so myself... (i redesigned it lol). It has How-To's, which we all need now and then! She also hosts some pretty awesome giveaways! Her blog looks very springish and I noticed that she is having a How-To on a wicked cool floral arrangement. It has step by step instructions so that even the most inept crafty person (like myself) can do it :) I am going to try it :D So go ahead and go check her out.

The Art Of Seducing A Naked Werewolf Review

Title: The Art Of Seducing a Naked Werewolf
Author: Molly Harper
Release Date: March 11, 2011
Publisher: Pocket
Source: Audible

Description:
Baring It All
Generations of werewolves have been secretly residing in a secluded valley a stone’s throw from Grundy, Alaska. So when a snooping Outsider comes to Grundy to investigate rumors of lycanthropic shenanigans in the area, the valley’s pack alpha, Maggie Graham, resolves to chase him away, even if doing so takes a quick bite on the butt. What a pity that researcher Nick Thatcher turns out to be so drool-worthy, and that his kisses make Maggie want to sit up and beg. Maggie just can’t seem to convince Nick to leave . . . and even worse, she can’t convince herself to stay away from him. Cross-species dating is problem enough for a harried alpha female, but on top of that, a rival group of werewolves is trying to move into the valley. With interpack war threatening, Maggie can’t afford to be distracted. Combining romance and a career can be tough for anyone; for a werewolf in love with a human, it may be disastrous. . . .

After the last acting Alpha was killed to save her sister in law, Maggie has been appointed the position of Alpha and she takes her new role in the pack very seriously. She is responsible for protecting everyone in the pack, something she does very well.

Nick is a scientist and all around geek. He has come to grundy to investigate the wolf attacks, thinking there is more to them then meets the eye. Nick thinks its werewolves attacking people and he plans on getting to the bottom of the story.

Maggie is sent to check out the new guy poking his nose into business that doesn't concern him. She has every intention to send him packing the minute she walks in. But when Maggie sees him she becomes dumb struck. He is gorgeous! With sandy hair and glasses. He has that whole hot professor thing going on. Nick asks Maggie if she will be his guide and take him to the spots where the killings happened, Maggie immediately declines, But Nick won't take no for an answer. He wants Maggie as a guide... maybe more.

Someone or something is threatening everything Maggie has come to love. Her job, her pack... her life. She can't sense whoever it is but knows that it is definitely a shifter. All she knows is that he smells very strongly like dryer sheets. Will Maggie get to the bottom of who is threatening her before its too late?

I loved this book. I think I may have enjoyed it even more than I did the first book How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf . Ever since the last book I was wondering what was with Maggie... and in this book you get to see everything the way she sees it. She is stubborn, sarcastic and snarky... yet hilarious! She doesn't let anyone get the better of her... that is anyone but Nick. From day one she has no clue how to act around Nick but knows she wants nothing more than to be an important part of his life. Maggie can't humor thoughts like those though. She needs to mate with another wolf in order to guarantee that the wolf line will continue.

Maggie tries to fight her feelings for Nick though the better part of the book, but it is so funny how she fights though feelings and the conversations between them are hilarious. Maggie does have more than one suitor after her though. Clay and Lee are also contending to mate with Maggie and continue the line, but not without exceptions, they both also want to stake a claim as Alpha of the pack.

Amanda Ronconi narrates the book, brining life to Maggie and the interesting cast of characters. Ronconi has a very tomboyish voice which suits Maggie to a T. Unlike the first book, her male voice for Nick does creep me out, which made me enjoy the book a little more. In the last book her voice for Cooper sounded much like he had just been kicked in the junk. The voice for Nick is much more tolerable than that.

I am hoping that we will see more in this series because I am loving these books.

How To Flirt With A Naked Werewolf Review

Title: How To Flirt With a Naked Werewolf
Author: Molly Harper
Release Date: Feb 22, 2011
Publisher: Pocket
Source: Audible

Description:
Northern Exposure
Even in Grundy, Alaska, it’s unusual to find a naked guy with a bear trap clamped to his ankle on your porch. But when said guy turns into a wolf, recent southern transplant Mo Wenstein has no difficulty identifying the problem. Her surly neighbor Cooper Graham—who has been openly critical of Mo’s ability to adapt to life in Alaska—has trouble of his own. Werewolf trouble.
For Cooper, an Alpha in self-imposed exile from his dysfunctional pack, it’s love at first sniff when it comes to Mo. But Cooper has an even more pressing concern on his mind. Several people around Grundy have been the victims of wolf attacks, and since Cooper has no memory of what he gets up to while in werewolf form, he’s worried that he might be the violent canine in question.
If a wolf cries wolf, it makes sense to listen, yet Mo is convinced that Cooper is not the culprit. Except if he’s not responsible, then who is? And when a werewolf falls head over haunches in love with you, what are you supposed to do anyway? The rules of dating just got a whole lot more complicated. . . .

I got How To Flirt with a Naked Werewolf from Audible which is a site to get audiobooks from. A site that I hadn't had any experience in using until I got this book but was pleasantly surprised.

Mo has lived her life defying her parents. She got a job flipping burgers as a teenager because her parents were vegetarians, she got engaged to a CPA because her parents are hippies and she knew that they would approve. Who is Mo? Mo doesn't know. She has spent her entire life living just to spite her over bearing hippie parents, and now has no clue who she is if she isn't trying to make their life miserable.  Mo needs to find herself.

Mo decides to put as much space between her and her parents as humanely possible without needing a passport. Alaska here she comes! Mo moves to Grundy Alaska. The complete opposite of her warm southern paradise. Its cold and small and the locals aren't to keen on outsiders coming to their quaint little town.

Soon Mo finds herself fitting into Grundy more than she ever thought. She gets a job at the local saloon cooking and waitressing. Every single guys within a 25 mile radius is asking her out... that is except for one... Cooper.

Cooper is a gruffy, grundgy, all around asshole. He doesn't even bother welcoming Mo to town because he knows she isn't going to make it through a winter in Grundy Alaska. He has seen tons of people come and go, moving to the little town and then leaving because the winter is to cold. He isn't going to get attached.

One night while closing up Mo is attacked by someone trying to rob the saloon, she is rescued by a gorgeous black wolf with beautiful blue eyes. The wolf tears into the man while Mo makes her getaway not even glancing back.

Soon Mo and Cooper begin to become close when she see's him turn into a wolf right in from of her... not just any wolf but THE wolf. The one that saved her from the man that was attacking her that night at the saloon. If that wasn't weird enough...people are going missing and it looks like a wolf attack .... is Cooper killing people?!?

How To Flirt with a Naked Werewolf was fantastic. I got the audio book which is read by Amanda Ronconi. Ronconi really brought the book alive through her naration. Her voice is snarky and tomboyish... exactly how I would expect Mo to sound. Copper's voice did kind of weird me out but it wasn't so bad that it ruined the book for me. I loved every moment. I got a few strange looks because with Mo's snarky attitude and witty come backs I couldn't help but laugh out loud. This book has got something for everyone. Magic, romance, sex, action, adventure .... sexy werewolves! Need I say more? Mo and Cooper's relationship intrigued me right from the get go. He is an asshole to Mo with no reason or explanation yet they both feel a pull to each other. It may sound odd but I loved the constant battle between them, and you can cut the sexual tension with a knife. Mo is a kickass chick who isn't going to allow anyone to keep her down... after all you don't grow up with the name MoonFlower and not have some kick in you. How To Flirt with a Naked Werwolf didn't just flirt with me... it seduced me. I want more! I will be checking out the next book in the series.

Review: The Day Before by Lisa Schroeder

Title: The Day Before
Author: Lisa Schroeder
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Release Date: June 28th 2011
Source: ARC e-galley from Simon and Schuster

Description from Goodreads:

Sometimes there's no turning back.

Amber's life is spinning out of control. All she wants is to turn up the volume on her iPod until all of the demands of her family and friends fade away. So she sneaks off to the beach to spend a day by herself.

Then Amber meets Cade. Their attraction is instant, and Amber can tell that he's also looking for an escape. Together they decide to share a perfect day: no pasts, no fears, no regrets.

The more time that Amber spends with Cade, the more she's drawn to him. And the more she's troubled by his darkness. Because Cade's not just living in the now--he's living each moment like it's his last.

My Thoughts:

Amber was switched at birth.  Now that her biological parents know about the mix-up, they are awarded shared custody with each set of parents getting  the 15 year old for six months at a time.  It is the day before she leaves to meet her birth parents.  She decides that she wants to spend her last day in Oregon at the beach alone.

While she is looking at the jellyfish in an aquarium, she meets a boy, Cade.  He suspects who she is from all the news reports in the media, but they agree not to ask each other their problems cause Cade has something that is bothering him on his mind too.

They spend the day at the beach building sandcastles, talking about their interests and lives, going to dinner and falling for each other.  Now that she's met Cade, she doesn't want to leave to go to Texas to meet her biological parents.   When it comes down to leaving, will she be able to leave her family, friends and Cade or will she run away?

This was an easy read for me.  It was written in verse, as all of Lisa Schroeder's books are that I've read.  It took me less than two hours to read the whole book.  Once I started, I was drawn into the characters' lives and didn't want to stop until I concluded their story.

I can't imagine being switched at birth.  Amber's life is turned upside down when her biological parents start fighting for shared custody.  Through their letters to Amber, we see that they really are loving and caring people whom are devoted to make Amber happy when she comes to stay with them.  Sure, it might be a little scary at first, leaving everyone behind in Oregon, but Amber needs to see where they're coming from and at least give them a chance.  It's not their fault there was a mix-up at the hospital.

Overall, I really enjoyed the story.  The romance between Amber and Cade was really sweet.  They both had something happening the next day and were able to bond over what was going on in their lives as well as comfort and understand each other.   I was in suspense wondering what Cade's big secret was the whole time I was reading.  So if you like moonlit campfires on the beach, family drama, kissing, and suspense that keeps you guessing the entire time- then look no further because this is the book that you're looking for.  It's a fast and purely enjoyable read with a storyline that pulls you in and won't let you go and even days after you are finished, you will still be thinking about it.

Venice Vampyr by Tina Folsom Review

Title: Venice Vampyr
Author: Tina Folsom <<< Go To The Authors Site
Release Date: Out Now!
Publisher: Indie
Source: Bought/Amazon.com
Series: Book 1 in Venice Vampyr series

Description:
Venice, early 1800s

Isabella Tenderini, a wealthy merchant's widow rescues a stranger from drowning in one of Venice's canals. And how does the man repay her selfless act? By kissing her - her, a respectable woman.

Not only is Raphael di Santori grateful for his life being saved, he would also like to thank his rescuer very intimately - more intimately than decorum allows. But then, Raphael has never been one to play by the rules - as a vampire he doesn't have to.

Tina Folsom takes paranormal erotica to new heights with Venice Vampyr. It is engaging and sexy. You will want to read every last word in one sitting... which is what I did.

Isabella is a respectable widow living in Venice. One night she is headed home via gondola on the canal when she hears sloshing in the water. She finds that a man is drowning and she vows that she is going to save him, so with the help of Adolfo her servant, she ties a rope around her waist and heads into the icy depths to save him. Little does Isabella know that by saving him she is opening herself up to a whole new world.

Raphael can't believe that anyone would ever want to save him, yet the beautiful Isabella jumped into the water and risked her own life in order to save his. How will he ever thank her? With a kiss of course! a kiss which rocks both the worlds of Raphael and Isabella.

Raphael will do anything to stay in Isabella's world. He wants nothing more than to love her for all eternity, but there are a few complications.... he is a vampire. Not only is he a vampire but he is a marked man. There are people that call themselves the Guardians of the holy waters, that would like nothing more than to see Raphael dead.

Will Raphael and Isabella be together for eternity or will the Guardians of the holy waters kill Raphael?

This book is absolutely addictive! It has an amazing story plot, with a ton of steamy sex scenes and no shortage of action. Ms. Folsom gives us the whole seat to sit on.... but you only need the edge!

Venice Vampyr has to be one of the best paranormal erotic books that I have read in a very long time. Keep in mind that if you are under 18 this book is very racy and is meant for an adult audience. With that said go and pick up a copy of this book... It is deliciously good!

I would have given this book more than 5 Stars if possible!

Mutti Esty Shop Review

I got the great pleasure of reviewing an awesome product from the Mutti shop on Etsy. They have some awesome items, full of great and natural colors. The shop itself reminds me of spring and summer... which happen to be an amazing time on the coast :)

I received a great Felted bowl from Mutti as a review product.

Description:
A lot of the rocks in the Wissahickon are a beautiful granite grey color. Some have Mica that sparkles in the sunlight. This bowl was hand knitted with beads made from recycled glass found in the Park. It was then felted to form a sturdy fabric that will hold up to years of wear.

This is an awesome little bowl. The measurements that I got from it is 3in X 5in. Which is a pretty good size for a felted bowl. It has a square shape to it, with beautiful blue beads on three sides of the bowl. The color of the blue matches the pictures above to a T. It reminds me of the ocean in the summer, with the sun bearing down on it. It just gorgeous.

I have found a ton of different uses for this delightful little bowl. I put stickers in it for my Etsy shop while I was labeling things. I have put twist ties in it for tying lollipops. I even put some freeze dried yogurt in it for my daughter for snack. Its a bowl that she can't break which is awesome! I currently have the bowl on the bar in my kitchen for car and house keys. I have gotten so many compliments on it, its not even funny. I think this bowl maybe one of the most used display pieces in my home.

Mutti is a friendly etsy seller and is super sweet. She makes your experience with her shop the best it can possibly be. Her attention to detail will shock and delight you. After purchasing from her once, you will be back for more. Her store is addictive and her customer service is like conversing with a friend you have known your whole life. Oh and did I mention shipping is super fast! I had it within two days of being notified that it had shipped.

Book Review Absence Explaination

Hey guys I am sure that many of you are wondering where all my reviews have been lately. I have been super busy and haven't had a ton of time to read lately but plan on picking up a book this afternoon if I get the chance. I am so sorry about the absence in the reviews lately. Over the next couple of days you should see more.

I have a few product reviews to post and hopefully will have a book review before the end of the weekend. Again I am so sorry about my absence in the last week or so. I will be more active soon on the blog.

Now to touch on why I have been so busy. I have been stressed to the MAX! My daughter has been in and out of the hospital for the last few weeks because she is sick... and it hasn't left a whole lot of me time. But she seems to be doing a little bit better so perhaps I will get some reviews done :D I can't wait!

Review: Born at Midnight (Shadow Falls #1) by C.C. Hunter

Author:  C.C. Hunter
Release Date:  March 29th 2011
Publisher:  St. Martin's Griffin
Source: Bought

Goodreads Description:

Don’t miss this spectacular new series that will steal your heart and haunt your dreams, Welcome to Shadow Falls camp, nestled deep in the woods of a town called Fallen…

One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever. Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.” Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.

Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either. Or does she? They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason. As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas. Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past. Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.

Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…

My Thoughts:

Kylie Galen heads to a party one night after her grandmother's funeral and learning of her parents' plans to divorce.  She doesn't drink like her friends but is still put into custody when the police bust up the party.

Her mom sends her to Shadow Falls Camp.  She soon learns the summer camp is inhabited with freaks when she steps on the bus and finds people that are nothing like her.  They are kids who look like the real troublemakers wit their multicolored hair, piercings, and tattoos.  Kylie finds out after she arrives that the camp is not for ordinary kids, but for supernaturals such as vampires, werewolves, and shapeshifters and that she is actually a supernatural.

She spends her summer making new friends and learning about their special gifts all the while searching her history trying to find out if she truly is a supernatural and what kind she might be.  She knows that she can see a ghost, was born at midnight, and can feel when people try to touch her and change her state of emotion so now she begins her journey to discover what she is and if she happens to meet a couple of cute boys along the way- all the better.  What Kylie discovers just might change her entire life.

First of all, let me say that the beautiful colors on the cover are what drew me to Born at Midnight in the first place.  It's creepy and mysterious all at the same time.  Bravo on the cover!

This is wonderful.  I was immediately drawn into Kylie's life from the first page.  Her home life was really believable and I can imagine the tension between Kylie and her parents that are separating.  What I can't believe is that she would be sent away after one minor screw up to a summer camp.

My favorite scene is when Perry, a shapeshifter, transforms to a kitten and Kylie takes it in to keep it safe.  I'm not gonna say what happens, but let me tell you that it was a non-stop, laugh out loud funny sort of moment.  I was laughing so hard that I started getting tears in my eyes.  Towards the end though,  I actually did shed a few tears, so have a tissue handy just in case you need one.

Born at Midnight is the start of a new series by C.C. Hunter.  It is a really addicting story so once you start, you'll use every free minute you can to continue Kylie's journey.  The author creates a world where supernaturals exist and rogues want Shadow Falls shut down.  This story is filled with humor, sadness, and romance along with mystery and a little drama among friends.  So those of you who want a breath of fresh air from your original paranormal romance, go grab C.C. Hunter's debut title, Born at Midnight, cause it has it all.

The Traveling Book Box

I recently participated in something called the Traveling Book Box which is being hosted by Erika over at Moonlight Book Reviews. I was supposed to do a far out post about the books in which I took out of the book box and the ones that I put in it.  Well it has been quite a few weeks since I received the box and sent the bookish goodies on to the next blogger to choose their books, and I completely forgot what I took out and other than Secrets and Shadows by Shannon Delany, I don't remember what I placed in the box.... oh and some lollies. So I am very sorry to Erika, I have been super busy and this post completely slipped my mind... so so sorry. But hop on over and check out Erika's blog Moonlight Book Reviews ... She is an awesome blogger and super duper friendly!
