Dead, Undead, or Somewhere in Between Review

Title: Dead, Undead, or Somewhere in Between
Author: J.A. Saare
Release Date: Feb 6, 2010
Publisher: Eternal Press
Source: Amazon
Kindle Lending: Disabled

Description:
One bad corpse can ruin your whole day.

No one knows better than Rhiannon Murphy that one bad corpse can ruin your whole day.
She left behind the flash and sass of Miami for the no-nonsense groove of New York City, eager for a clean slate and a fresh start. A bartender by trade, a loud mouth by choice, and a necromancer by chance; she managed to keep her nifty talent hidden from those around her—until now.

The deliciously good-looking vampire, Disco, knows her secret. When he strolls into her bar to solicit help investigating the mysterious disappearances of his kind from the city, Rhiannon discovers he’s not the kind of person that appreciates the significance of the word no.

But in a world where vampires peddle their blood as the latest and greatest drug of choice, it’s only a matter of time before the next big thing hits the market. Someone or something is killing vampires to steal their hearts, and unlike Rhiannon, this isn’t their first stroll around the undead block.

Rhiannon is someone that can see the dead and has spent her life not allowing anyone to get to close to her, due to her horrible childhood. But all of that is about to change when a gorgeous vampire named Disco enters the picture. He needs Rhiannon's help to find the vampires in his "family" who have gone missing. It seems as though something or someone is taking them and harvesting their hearts but no one can figure out why.

Disco also enlists the help of Goose. Goose is another necromancer but he doesn't have the power to see the twice dead. He does however know how to use his powers, one thing that Rhiannon is lacking. She has no idea what to do with her unused talent, she is more worried about keeping Disco at bay. Can Rhiannon help Disco before its to late? and will Disco be able to break down the walls Rhiannon has built so high up, so that he can be a part of her life?

Okay so first off... this book starts out amazingly. All through the book I was hanging on ever single written word. I do suggest if you are under 18 you steer clear of this book though, it does have some very descriptive brutality in it, which I don't believe someone under 18 should read.  Anyways back to what I was saying. The book is full of romance , suspense and action. Its fabulously written and I enjoyed it immensely... that is until the end.

This ending SUCKED! I even went as far to saying... "well that was a waste of my time." I was so frustrated with the ending, I still am. I just can't stand how the book ended. I seriously want to find the author and be like "What the hell were you thinking?". My rating is effected definietly by the ending. This would have been 5 stars all the way if it hadn't ended so poorly! Anyways I just couldn't bring myself to give this book a great rating after that ending.

My suggestions... if you want a great read, read this book. Its an awesome book. Just skip the ending and make up your own... it may serve a better purpose!

Ask Mary Anything...

Okay so I get tons of emails asking me questions. Some have nothing to do with blogging, books or reading and some do. A lot of my followers have expressed that they would like me to do posts about the questions I am asked and the answers to those questions. So here we go!

What do you do when you aren't reading/reviewing?
I actually have a pretty hectic life. I have a 11 month old daughter who keeps me running... all the time. And I love to bake... just about anything.

Are you going to start including recipes on the blog?
If I get enough people asking about them , I would be more than happy to share a few recipes with you. I could do a recipe a week or something like that. Let me know on the form below if you want me to.

How long have you been reviewing?
I have been reviewing for about 4 years.

How do you get ARC's?
A lot of the time I get my ARC's shipped to me from the publisher. I have a lot of books that show up out of the blue and others I have to request.

When you ask for ARC's how to you go about it?
Be short and sweet. Don't include a lot of personal info because honestly they don't really care. Make sure that you have your address in your signature, otherwise they are likely to ignore your email. And always include where they can find your blog.

How did you get into cooking/baking?
I have actually got this question a lot. I started cooking and baking at a very young age. Then I went to school to hone my skills as a pastry chef.  After working in the food industry I realized that I hated doing it as a living. It took all the fun out of baking for others, so now I cook out of my kitchen and I am loving it again.

I have noticed that you have mentioned on Twitter that you have gone to school for a few different things. What were they?
I went to school to become a pastry chef. I also went to be a medical examiner. Complete opposites right? lol.

What color is your natural hair color?
Honestly.... I have no idea! I have been dying my hair since high school and can't picture my actual hair color lol. I believe it maybe dirty blond.

Where can I find your Etsy Store?
You can find my Etsy store by CLICKING HERE

Thanks so much for all the questions... you can ask me more by using the form below. Also let me know if you are interested in my including recipes by using the check boxes.

My Grandma's Of New England Review

Company: My Grandma's Of New England
Cake Flavor: Cape Code Cranberry
Source: My Grandma's Of New England (Thanks!)

Description:
Sharp and Tart Cranberries Combined with Cinnamon Sugar Sweetness

Large chunks of New England's most famous berry are sweetened with pure New England maple syrup, adding a festive and delicious accent to this variation of our original cinnamon walnut cake. A perennial favorite during the holiday season, now available all year long.

This cake is baked with walnuts.
                                                     This cake is certified Kosher.

I was contacted by My Grandma's Of New England's marketing manager to see if I would like to review one of their coffee cakes. She gave me my choice of cake by telling me I could choose whichever cake I would like to review on their site. Right off I was like wow... I get to choose? I have never had a food company tell me that I could choose which item I got to review. I was like a kid in a candy store! They have a ton of varieties and two different sizes of cakes. I told Rachel (marketing manager) that I would like to review the Cap Code Cranberry Coffee Cake. I didn't tell her what size I wanted. She told me she would have it shipped right out to me. That was yesterday!

This evening I hear a knock on my door. I go and open the door thinking it was family coming over, but nope it was the Fed Ex man ... and he had a white and red box in his hands with the My Grandma's logo on it. I don't believe I have ever been this happy to see the Fed Ex man! So I took the box from him said thank you and walked into my kitchen with the box. Well I couldn't wait to get into it! So I cut into the plastic covering the box. The minute I cut the plastic I could smell the delicious Cape Code Cranberry Coffee Cake. Rachel sent me the biggest cake that they had... lucky me! I immediately opened the cake which was also in plastic inside the box. I cut the first piece and slowly bring the fork to my mouth and experienced a moment I have never had with food before. I closed my eyes and had that mmmm moment.

I have had a lot of cakes and sweets in general, but nothing has ever blown my world like this coffee cake did. It had the best flavor of any cake I have ever tasted. It was so moist. There are coffee cakes that I have had fresh out the oven that didn't taste even remotely as good as this one. I never thought anything could taste this good. With one bite I felt as though I was transported to Cape Cod Mass, and I was having breakfast at a small cafe, that had just baked this delightful treat.  Whatever My Grandma's Of New England is doing... they are doing it right! If you want an instant vacation and that food moment that makes you close your eyes and savor every bite, you need My Grandma's Of New England's cakes... you won't find this perfection anywhere else.

My husband says this is husband approved.

Review: Timeless by Alexandra Monir

Title: Timeless
Author: Alexandra Monir
Release Date: January 11th 2011
Publisher: Delacorte Books for Young Readers
Source: Bought

Description from Goodreads:

When tragedy strikes Michele Windsor’s world, she is forced to uproot her life and move across the country to New York City, to live with the wealthy, aristocratic grandparents she’s never met. In their old Fifth Avenue mansion filled with a century’s worth of family secrets, Michele discovers a diary that hurtles her back in time to the year 1910. There, in the midst of the glamorous Gilded Age, Michele meets the young man with striking blue eyes who has haunted her dreams all her life – a man she always wished was real, but never imagined could actually exist. And she finds herself falling for him, into an otherworldly, time-crossed romance.

Michele is soon leading a double life, struggling to balance her contemporary high school world with her escapes into the past. But when she stumbles upon a terrible discovery, she is propelled on a race through history to save the boy she loves – a quest that will determine the fate of both of their lives.

Michele Windsor and her mom, Marion are not only daughter and mother but are also like best friends.  She tells her mother everything from her song lyrics she writes to the dreams she has of a mystery guy that keeps appearing in her dreams.  They may come from a wealthy, high-class family in New York, but are perfectly happy with their simple way of life away from the well known family name.  It is just Marion and Michele and she is content that way.

Michele is supposed to be picked up at school to go out to lunch with her mother, but Marion never shows.  A police man pulls in and tells Michele of the accident that took her mother's life.  Michele's world is turned upside down.  In her will, Marion stated that her daughter's new guardians will be her parents in New York.  So Michele has no choice but to move across the country to live with her grandparents, whom she has never met and live the life of the rich and famous.

This is where the story gets addictive.  Michele is alone in her mother's old room (which also belonged to the previous Windsor daughters that resided in the house) trying to write lyrics that just wouldn't come to her since Marion's death.  She uses a magic skeleton key from her dreams that she now has in reality, thanks to her going through her mother's personal belongings, to open a locked drawer in which she finds an old journal.  When she opens it, she is soon transported back in time to 1910.  From then on, Michele is able to travel back in time to see the way life was back then and also meet her Windsor ancestors.  She also meets the boy she's been dreaming of her entire life.  They connect with each other instantly but how can they be together when they live 100 years apart.  Michele will try many ways to be with him but there could be consequences to her actions if she messes with the past.

The cover is what attracted me to this book.  It is a beautiful cover.  If you look closely, you will see the skeleton key hanging as a necklace on the girl's neck.  The colors are very eye catching and soft which blend perfectly together.

At the beginning of the story, I was already drawn in to the characters' lives.  I actually got emotional and teary-eyed when Michele found out about her mom's accident.  It was heart breaking to learn that she would no longer have her mother and would have to live with her grandparents.  She couldn't even continue to stay with her best friends and that having to start off brand new in a new place with a new school, she knew it wasn't gonna be easy but she moved anyway to start her new life.  It would have made it a little easier on her if she would have known that this new life would bring her the answers to a lot of unanswered questions.

Michele is a strong character.  She tries to give up a future with her mystery guy when she learns the consequences of them being together.  She is also very brave.  She travels back in time not knowing what she is going to encounter when she gets there.

Timeless is breath taking!  It is beautifully written with a unique and creative storyline.  There was a lot of thought put into the writing of the plot and the author's imagination took the story to somewhere I've never been while reading a book.

After reading the last page, you will be anticipating the sequel and counting down the months till the story can be continued.  If you like reading stories containing romance, family secrets, heart break, time travel, and love that will stand the test of time (literally), then this is definitely the book for you.

The Lelo Soraya was supplied to me by the great people at Paris Intimates. Honestly Paris Intimates is the only place that I have found featuring the Lelo Soraya that it's price is under 190.00. Paris Intimates is currently offering the Soraya for only 124.95. You can go directly to the Lelo Soraya page featured on Paris Intimates site by clicking anywhere it says Paris Intimates or Lelo Soraya.

Let me start off by saying WOW! The Lelo Soraya has to be one of the best toys that I now own and the most elegant. I am a huge fan of Lelo products, they always look so amazing and perform just as well. But with the Soraya, Lelo has finally done something we have all been waiting for. At least I know I have been waiting for. It's Waterproof! I have wanted a waterproof Lelo toy since I first began buying Lelo toys and now finally they offer their insignia line, which are all waterproof.

The Soraya performs amazingly. It has two motors, one at the base of the vibrator and one at the tip. So no longer do you have to deal with the vibrations only being concentrated on one part of the vibrator and missing out. The vibrations are easily felt throughout the entire shaft as well as in the clitoral stimulator.

The Soraya is made from an ABS body safe silicone and features a fabulous metal detailing. The silicone is soft to the touch, the feel of it can best be described as an expensive fabric. Its incredibly soft. The metal detailing is perfect for temperature play for a beginner. It is slightly cold but warms up quickly while in use.

You can easily use this vibrator for stimulation all over the body. Also it can be used for an amazing massage. You can use the end to work out knots out of your partners back and slide it along muscles to relieve built up tension, just pair it with your favorite massage oil or massage candle. Paris Intimates has a great selection of massage oils and candles that you can check out. Or you can use the vibrations to tease your partner for a tantalizing foreplay. Whatever your desire the Soraya is sure to deliver.

MAKE SURE TO CHECK OUT THE LELO SORAYA AT PARIS INTIMATES FOR ONLY 124.95! CLICK HERE!
