Dumplin Holler Etsy Review

Have you ever had a delicious treat that just made your taste buds tingle... and before you knew it...WTH?!? It's empty all ready? This is exactly what happened to me with Dumplin Holler Spoon Fudge. I received three delicious flavors. Red Velvet... 2 jars of Peanut Butter and Cafe au Lait, which was a delicious extra that tasted like a creamy, delicious cappuccino in a jar!

All the flavors where delightful. The fudge was light and airy and completely spoonable. I have never tasted anything like this fudge before! Before I knew it I had ate the entire 4oz jar of spoon fudge... talk about feeling like a fatty... if that wasn't bad enough *blush* I also finished the other three jars within 2 days of receiving them. I couldn't help it! It was calling me!

I received this delightfully delicious treat only four days from the date that I ordered it. It arrived tasting fresh and was soft. It comes in a reusable 4oz jar that has a screw top on it and a tiny little spoon on the side for easy consumption.  All the jars came similar to the ones pictured above. With a ribbon holding the spoon in place. Each jar of fudge is labeled with the Dumplin Holler logo and the flavor that is in that jar. The packaging would make an awesome gift... great for valentines day. It even had some basket filler, crinkled type of paper in the shipping box, so when I opened the box it was like I was receiving a fabulous gift!

There is nothing about Dumplin Holler Spoon Fudge that I would change... It is so delectable. I also would recommend this fudge to anyone looking for a sweet treat or a great gift for a love one. But be careful... you better order one for yourself as well because you are going to want this fudge!

Over all Dumplin Holler is a fantastic little Etsy shop, with fabulous items, great customer service and a deliciousness that you will never forget. Not to mention the fast shipping and the very generous extra jar of fudge that I received from them.

Saturday Six - January 29th 2011

Here are this week’s “Saturday Six” questions.   I learned all about this meme from Patrick's blog at Patrick's Place.   Hop on over and join in all the fun.  Here we go:

Saturday Six – Episode 355 - Fast Food Themed Edition

1. Which fast food restaurant have you visited most in the past year?

Well, I have 2 kids and thier favorite place is McDonalds to get Happy Meals and the fantastic little toy that comes in the box.

2. What fast food creation do you most wish you could mimic in your own kitchen?

My son is so picky all he ever really eats is Chips, Popcorn, Crackers, Breakfast foods like frozen waffles (no butter or syrup), cerals (no milk added- dry only), poptarts (not heated or with butter),  pizza that is delived only (not mine- even if it is plain cheese), and of course McDonald's Chicken Nuggets.  If I could somehow copy their Happy Meals containing Chicken Nuggets and the French Fries (he won't even eat my french fries - even if I buy the shoestring kind) I would be (and my son too) would be so incredibly greatful.  If I could afford to go to get him a Happy Meal every day,  I would do it in a heart beat, but I can't so if anyone knows how to do this and copy those 2 McDonald's menu items....I would be forever in your debt!!

3. You don’t have time to cook, but you want to eat as healthy a meal as possible: which fast food restaurant are you most likely to choose?

Akita Express.  It is a Japanese restaurant about 30 mins away and they serve their food really fast and don't make you sit in front of the chef and watch him prepare it and do funny tricks like make vocanoes out of rice and flip stuff into his funny hat.  It's my absolute favorite fast food restaurant.  I love their  Teryaki Chicken with white rice and and shrimp sauce.  Yummy!!

4. Take the quiz: What Kind of French Fries Are You?

You Are Curly Fries

You are a fun loving person, and it's not hard to convince you to do something silly.

Novelty makes you light up, and you're often attracted to anything creative or quirky.

You're easily distracted, but your inspiration often comes from these distractions.

You are cooperative and friendly. You're especially excited to be around interesting people.

5. What do you like most on your french fries?

I love Miracle Whip or Mayo if I am out of Miracle Whip. Don't knock it till you've tried it!!  I got Mary to try it and she liked it too ( the Mayo not the Miracle Whip).

6. When ordering a burger, do you prefer ordering it “all the way” and picking off what you don’t want, or do you prefer to order specifically what you want?

I (or whoever orders) specifically order my 2 cheeseburgers with Ketchup Only and have been doing that sicne I was a tot in diapers.  I hate mustard or pickles on there cause they leave a funky taste even if you try to scoop it all off of there.  Better to just order it the way I want it, that way it doesn't go to waste:)

I would love to hear your comments, so feel free to leave some:)

Review: Deadly Little Games (Touch #3) by Laurie Faria Stolarz

Title: Deadly Little Games (Touch #3)
Release Date: December 28th 2010
Publisher: Hyperion Book CH
Source: Bought for my Kindle
Kindle Lending: Enabled

Description From Goodreads:

Camelia and Ben have discovered a powerful bond: They both possess the power of psychometry, the ability to sense things through touch. For Ben, the gift is a frightening liability. When he senses a strong threat or betrayal, he risks losing control and hurting people. Camelia's gift is more mysterious. When she works with clay, her hands sculpt messages her mind doesn't yet comprehend.

Before either teen has a chance to fully grasp these abilities, an unresolved family tragedy resurfaces in Camelia's life, irrevocably changing everything she cares about...

My Review:

The Book starts with Camelia sculpting a pair of lips.  They aren't Ben's lips either.  They belong to Adam.  Who is Adam you ask.  Well, he is the boy that seeked revenge against his ex best friend, Ben.  Adam and Camelia were seeing each other while she and Ben were taking a break.
Camelia keeps sculpting pieces of clay that are actually clues/premonitions showing that Adam is in danger.  She and her friends, Kimmie and Wes, start hanging around with Adam so they can try to see who is trying to make him pay.  He keeps getting crossword puzzles with hidden messages in the answers.  With Ben not as approving of Camelia and Adam hanging out, they start to pull apart a little bit.  Is this Adam's plan to get Camelia back or is there really someone who wants to kill him?  You never know who's gonna get hurt if they're not careful.
What a great third book in the series.  I was anticipating this book's release day for many months now and was not a bit disappointed when I finished it.
Let's start off with Camelia.  Trouble always seems to find that girl.  The thing is- she hasn't once told her parents anything that is going on.  I realize her parents are having family issues since her Aunt Alexia is in the mental ward, but come on- you would seriously think that after everything she's gone through, she'd tell her parents something other than keeping them completely clueless.  All I got left to say on the subject is she better start talking by the end of the fourth book in the series.
I kept guessing who the actual villain of the story was this time.  I would think that it was one character for awhile and then change my mind to thinking of someone else.  The author definitely kept me on my toes the entire time and for your information,  I didn't guess right one time.  The ending blew me away.  It was completely unexpected and I was scared for the characters that were in danger.
Overall, I love every book in this series.  They are puzzling, edgy, and fresh and full of danger, mystery, and romance.  Read this series as soon as you get a chance.  Drop everything else you're reading at the moment cause this series is amazing- one of my favorites by far.  Kudos to Laurie on her creations and for sharing all her work with readers like me.

Summer's Wolf Review

Title: Summer's Wolf
Author: Rebecca Royce
Release Date: Sept 28, 2009
Publisher: Liquid Silver Books
Source: Author (Thanks!!!)
Kindle Lending: Enabled
Age Suggestion: Adult

Three years ago, Summer Morrison’s happy, normal life was thrown into upheaval. Forced to discover, before she was ready, that she was half-wolf shifter and mated to the pack’s enforcer has left Summer moody, shaken, and resentful. When tragedy strikes her family, Summer is forced to come back to the world of the Westervelt Wolves…and into the arms of Cullen Murphy.

Cullen has waited three years for Summer, having promised her mother he would give her time to grow up. But he’s never forgotten his mate and craved her presence since he first saw her on the battlefield three years earlier. The trouble is, now that Cullen has Summer, he has no idea what to do with her. Three hundred years of being alone has left Cullen socially inept and more lonesome than he would ever admit. He lives with the guilt and shame of his deeds, while knowing his role is pivotal to the pack’s survival.

Together, Cullen and Summer will heal each other’s wounds and discover that life is worth living as long as they are together. Now there’s just the little matter of Kendrick and Claudius, their evil henchmen, the army of miscreant wolves, and the demons that keep attacking. If they can survive, their love will be everlasting. But failure will mean not only their destruction, but the end of the Westervelt Wolves.

When love is eternal, failure is not an option.

The Westervelt Wolves series from Rebecca Royce is turning out to be an immaculately beautiful series.

Summer has spent the last 3 years waiting and longing for her mate to come and take her back to the remote island in Maine where the pack resides. But as she sits waiting he never shows. Summer has never felt more neglected and rejected before. On a trip home something horrible happens sending Summer on the ride of her life... literally.

Cullen has been counting the days from when he first found out that Summer was his mate, until the day when he is allowed to go get her and have her to himself for eternity. Unfortunately he has made a promise to Summer's mother that he won't try and pursue Summer until she has finished school... which is still 2 years away. When something bad happens at Summer's home Cullen knows that he has to save his mate before something comes between them forever. Can Summer and Cullen deal with the tragic events that come to a head or will they come between them?

After reading Her Wolf I was in dire need for more delicious wolfiness. And Rebecca Royce didn't fail to appease my need. Summer's Wolf is the sequel to Her Wolf in which we learn about Ashlee's sister Summer and her mate Cullen. Instead of being drawn to the main character like I was in Her Wolf, I was more drawn to Cullen. He was complicated and a sweet fumbling fool. Which I like to think most men are like... they are just hiding it... I hope.

Cullen is 300 years old. He has seen a lot of horrible things in his time and done even more horrible things. Upon being reunited with Summer he has no clue how he is supposed to act around her, and is worried that all the stupid things that are coming out all wrong are going to scare her off. I loved that the most respected member of the pack was so insecure. It showed just how human he was. How ultimately his mate could be his destruction. Which at points I was seriously thought was going to happen... Summer isn't always easy on him.

Summer's wolf is beautifully written. It was as though I was seeing everything through Cullen's and Summer's eyes which brought on an amazing aspect to the story. Rebecca Royce has a style of writing that I have never encountered before hers and frankly.... its KICK ASS and absolutely amazing. She brings so much life to her characters and describes their feelings so that you feel what they are feeling. There were times in Summer's Wolf that I gasped, teared up, and laughed my ass off... I loved everything about this book from the first page until the very last. Pick up a copy of Summer's Wolf by Rebecca Royce and take an adventure with Summer and Cullen that is sure to be thrill packed and breathtakingly beautiful.

Her Wolf Review

Title: Her Wolf
Author: Rebecca Royce
Release Date: July 27, 2009
Publisher: Liquid Silver Books
Source: Author (Thanks :))
Kindle Lending: Enabled
Age Suggestion: Adult

Ashlee Morrison has a secret obsession—with a dark and mysterious male. The only problem is that he’s a wolf and she’s becoming convinced that she’s insane. But Ashlee’s wolf is no ordinary canine; he is Tristan Kane, third son in the royal family of the Westervelt Wolf pack.

Trapped in his wolf form by his evil father’s men, Tristan has desperately sought a way out of predicament and is shocked to find that the sad but beautiful redhead who has come to the wolf cage can not only hear him, but awakens in him the knowledge that she is his mate, the other half of his soul.

Ashlee, unaware that she is half wolf-shifter, agrees to accompany Tristan back to his pack in Maine to seek answers to her past and understand her future. But as Tristan and Ashlee grow closer, familial betrayals will threaten to destroy the fragile love they have started to build.

With the odds stacked against them, Ashlee and Tristan will either embrace their love to save the Westervelt Wolves or be lost forever to despair.

This book started out just a little slow for me, but as I was reading it I realized that it was necessary in order to develop the story correctly. I am now thankful for the slow beginning.

Ashlee volunteers at a local zoo. It was her father's way of getting her out of the house after a horrible break up with her fiance. At the zoo she is drawn to a wolf in the wolf enclosure. Every day she is at the zoo she feels compelled that she has to go visit him. And his eyes are just so human looking.

Tristan was caught while he was in his wolf form and a spell was put on him so that he couldn't shift back to his human form. He was put in a zoo enclosure with other wolves... but he isn't like other wolves, he is a shifter. Everyday a pretty young lady comes to visit him and he feels drawn to her in a way that he never has with anyone before... because she is his mate.

Ashlee decides that she needs to break Tristan out of the zoo in order to save him and get him back to his human form. She agrees to take him to a remote island in Maine where his pack resides. There his family can turn him human again. But turning Tristan back to his human form isn't the only task they are going to have to tackle to be together. And is there more to Ashlee than meets the eye?

Okay so first off I need to send out a HUGE thank you to author of Her Wolf Rebecca Royce! Not only did you write an amazing book.... but you brought back my hope in paranormal romance. I have read so many paranormal romance books to review that I have grown bored with them. Most of them are all about the same thing and oh so predictable. Her Wolf isn't at all predictable. From page to page I had no idea what was to come... and when I found out was delightfully shocked. I haven't been this into a book, in it seems like forever. And thanks to Rebecca Royce I have found a new wind for paranormal romance.

Ashlee's character had to be my favorite by far. She is complicated and beautiful. And the author portrayed her perfectly. She is confused, complicated, stubborn, creative and brave. All these qualities made her an amazing character because I could relate with her. I don't know a woman who isn't all of those things. But most of the time its down played or the woman is weak. Not Ashlee. She will do anything she needs to in order to save her mate... even if it means dying.

Tristan's love for Ashlee is breathtaking. He is completely devoted to her no matter what the circumstances are. And trust me... there are some rough circumstances! It gives me hope again in the power of love and romance.

If you don't read this book... it would be a huge mistake. Her Wolf has something for everyone, its romantic, sexy, sweet, action packed, there is adventure and loyalty... and paranormal yumminess! So if you are like I was and have lost your interest in paranormal romance, renew your love for it with Her Wolf... This is one book you will never forget!

Cake Balls

Cake Balls
Who doesn't love a delectable treat? I know that I do! and the easier the better with the little one running around. These are super easy to make but are a little bit time consuming... so keep that in mind. These are pretty small about 2 bites.

What You'll Need:
1 boxed cake mix (any kind)
1 tub of any flavor frosting
12oz of candy melts or chocolate chips w/ 1TBSP of shortening added
cookie sheet or some waxed paper

Step #1:
Make the boxed cake per the instructions on the box.

Step #2:
Let the cake cool. I find that it cools faster if cut into smaller pieces and placed on a cookie sheet. Aprox. 30 mins or so.

Step #3:
Crumble the cake. I usually do this with my hands but it can also be easily done with a mixer. Add the entire tub of frosting and mix well. It should resemble something close to a cookie dough after mixing.

Step #4:
Shape your dough into balls. I personally use a cookie scoop then hand roll them to get them perfectly round, but you could also use a melon baller, tablespoon or just eye it and shape it into a ball.

Step #5:
Refrigerate your cake balls for a few hours until they are firm. I freeze mine for an hour to cut down on time, it works great and the chocolate coating hardens faster.

Step #6:
Once they are firm you are ready to melt your chocolate or candy melts. This can be done per instructions on the package, in a microwave or in a double broiler. If you use the microwave I suggest doing half the chocolate at a time due to it cooling quickly and causing lumps.

Step #6:
Coat your cake balls with the melted chocolate that you will be using for the coating. If you are going to use sprinkles on your cake balls, make sure to do so quickly after dipping the cake ball so that they stick. Place the cake ball on some waxed paper or a cookie sheet that is greased or sprayed with a nonstick spray. After the chocolate/candy melts harden you can trim the access on the bottom with a sharp knife, but be careful not to nick the cake ball.

Step #7:

Personal Notes:
For a fantastic and professional touch, get some lollipop bags , some pretty ribbon and mini cupcake papers. Put the cake ball in the cupcake paper, wrap with the lolli bag and tie with the ribbon.... GORGEOUS!

A lot of people were asking for my recipe... here it is.. now go make some awesome yumminess!

Odd Ball Questions

These are some Odd Ball questions that followers have directed to my Sparkling Reviews email. They have nothing to do with books... but weirdly amused me so here they are with the answers to them.

Q. What did you like to eat when you were younger?
A. Well I am a bit of a foodie ... I like so many different foods, but one thing that I really enjoyed when I was younger was egg salad on wheat bread... I still really like that!

Q. Do you like Coke or Pepsi?
A. Funny you should ask... If I was to drink either Coke or Pepsi and those were my only options, I would choose Coke hands down. But I really prefer Dr. Pepper or Mt. Dew.

Q. How tall are you?
A. I come in a a staggering 5 feet and 2 inches!

Q. What hobbies do you have?
A. Strangely enough I don't have a hobby. I really wish I did though and am currently looking for a great hobby to adopt, so if you have suggestions let me know :)

Q. Do you wear socks?
A. That's a tough question... I do wear socks, but not all the time! I am a flip flops kinda girl and socks just don't go with flip flops. But if I am wearing boots or sneakers ... yes I wear socks....usually.

Q. Whats your favorite accessory?
A. I always have to have some sort of purse or bag to carry around with me. And I decide which bag I like most by the size... I have to be able to fit my Kindle in there comfortably... I don't want her cramped... she may not supply me with good reading material if she is cramped!

Q. How old are you?
A. I am 24 years old but feel 80 most days lol.

Q. What were you like as a teenager?
A. I was out of control! That is putting it mildly. I had just about every color hair... and no I don't mean normal colors... I had pink, purple, blue, green, yellow and at times a combo of those colors. I also had more piercings than I could count.

Q. How do you feel about book borrowing?
A. I love the fact that I can borrow books, I love the try before you buy option... I wish they had it on more items... like food!

Q. Why don't you have an about me page?
A. I don't have an about me page because I like to think that my blog is about reviewing.... not about me. But I am more than willing to answer any questions that you may have about me.

Q. What is your favorite food?
A. Cereal! I love cereal... no cooking involved and there is so many different kinds, that you could have a different cereal every day for over 30 days! I mean whats better than that?

Q. Whats your favorite color?
A. I really like bright colors, so I would have to say hot pink or lime green... but I really love them when they are together!

Q. Do you have a boyfriend?
A. No... No I do not have a boyfriend... but I do have a wonderful husband!

That's all I have for strange questions right now... but ask me something... I will answer just about anything and I have included a convenient little form below, for you question.  It can be book related, blog related or just plain out of the ordinary!

Guardian Vampire Review

Title: Guardian Vampire
Author: Lauralynn Elliot
Publisher: Indie
Release Date: Dec 12, 2010
Source: Bought | Amazon
Kindle Lending: Enabled
Rating: 4 Stars!

After witnessing something so terrible in a nightclub that it causes her to lose her memory of it, Kendall St. John finds herself the target of ruthless killers. Her father hires a bodyguard, Logan Steele, to protect her, but everywhere they turn, the killers continue to find them. As Kendall and Logan struggle with their feelings for each other, Logan struggles to protect her from the killers…and from himself.
Kendall has always had everything and any man she has ever wanted. Night after night she goes to the club with one goal. Pick a man out and make sure by the end of the night that he wants her. She feels that she has to prove to herself that someone wants her and she accomplishes this by picking up men at a local club. That is until one night when she attempts to pick someone up and he shoots her down. Not only does he shoot her down, but acts like he couldn't care less about her.

Kendall has never been turned down by anyone before, and now isn't sure what she should do with her night. So she ventures to the back room of the club, where only the owners are permitted to go. While trying to find something exciting to do, Kendall witnesses something that she shouldn't and ran. Now she can't remember what she saw that night and people are trying to kill her. Her father's solution to protecting her is to hire her a bodyguard.

Logan is trying to crack the mystery behind some of the towns most wealthiest people disappearing. Not only is there nothing pointing towards a source, but there is no type of strings or path to follow other than a local club in town. Logan knows there has to be more than meets eye to the club.

Logan gets a special assignment... to protect Kendall St. John a spoiled brat that he turned down at the club the night before. But there is something different about Kendall, she smells different than any other women has to him before. She smells sweet and irresistible. Kendall is a stubborn, spoiled princess that will stop at nothing to make protecting her the toughest job he has had yet.

Soon Logan and Kendall find themselves falling for each other... but can Kendall see past what Logan is? or will Kendall die before she learns the truth both about Logan and what she witnessed that night in the club?

Guardian Vampire was a surprisingly fast read. I finished it in a little under 3 hours. I just couldn't put it down, I was hanging on ever delicious word that Lauralynn Elliot was feeding me. Guardian Vampire has a little bit of something for everyone, it has romance, action, adventure, intrigue and mystery. It is a great all around read. I loved how the relationship developed between Logan and Kendall, how difficult it was for them to see past both of their stubbornness. It wasn't one of those books that you are immediately thrown into the two main characters having sex, because they find each other hot. There was time for them to get to know each other and to develop an attraction.

I would suggest this book to any adult. It is steamy and lustful but will give you that warm tingly feeling that love still exists and not all men are assholes. Unfortunately this one is a vampire and you will never have a chance with him.... but we can't help but have a little bit of hope... right ladies? If you are going to fall for a vampire, let it be Logan!

OVERALL RATING Blogiverasry! is having their 2 year blogiversary! Not only are they giving away some fabulous prizes but one of the prizes includes a NookColor from Barnes and Noble.
