Follow Friday

Monica @ The Bibliophilic Book Blog asks...

What are your favorite authors?

I actually found that this was a very difficult question for me to answer. Its really hard to pick certain authors over others. I do have a few that I favor, a couple that no matter what they come out with I absolutely have to read, and I will put down anything I am currently reading, to read whatever they have new out. My first three authors are indie authors, but are so good I feel that they should have been published by a big publishing house a while ago, they are just as good as L.J. Smith or Kelley Armstrong. I have listed my favorite authors in order below and reasons why.

H.P. Mallory-
I have read both of H.P. Mallory's books, and they are absolutely without a doubt amazing. I would put down anything to read one of her books any day of the week. She has a way of bringing her books alive, so that you feel you are right there along with the main character in the book. When a book can do that, how can't you read it? H.P currently has two books out, Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble and To Kill a Warlock, she also had a third book coming out Jan 1, 2011 called Toil and Trouble... You have to check them out!

Imogen Rose -
Imogen is an indie author as well, but her work says something else entirely. She currently has 2 books out and one that is due out on Nov 16th. Portal and Equilibrium are breath taking, in a 'I had the whole seat but only needed the edge of it' kind of way. I am sure that I will get nothing less than that from her new book coming out entitled Quantum

Martin Sharlow-
Martin writes paranormal books, which happen to be my favorite, but he brings on new and interesting ways to portray our favorite old characters. He uses an old stereotype character and brings life to it. In his books our vampires are no longer afraid of the sun... or dead for that matter.. which was a completely new concept to me, which I love, because you never know what is going to happen, it leaves everything very unpredictable! His originality is what keeps me coming back for more! My favorite books of Martin's are Fallen Blood and Shades Of Twilight.

Kelley Armstrong-
I absolutely love anything that comes out by Kelley Armstrong. All her books seem to have adventure, suspense and a paranormal twist... what more can you ask for? My favorite books of Kelley's are The Summoning, The Awakening and The Reckoning... these are all books that stay in my collection, I want to be able to go grab one on a rainy day, or when I am stressed out and just need a great book to read.

All of these are my top choices for authors, but there are so many it was wicked hard to narrow them all down. I am pretty sure I would have taken up a few hours of your time if I had to list them all!

That is my answer this week for Following Friday... What's Yours?

  3. Funny, I haven't read any of these authors. Where did you hear about them. Martin Sharlow sounds especially interesting.

  4. I didn't answer this weeks question because it would be too hard to narrow down authors! :)

  5. I've been a follower, but I've been neglecting my blog lately. *hangs head*. I'm trying to get back into the swing of things.

Imogen Rose is awesome and helped me design the cover of my book.

  6. I'm always a little bummed when I lose followers but make every effort to
turn every lost follower into a learning experience so I can improve my
    performance.

On the flip side, I only stop following people when they give me a reason to
such as being totally off message or being too controversial in an negative,
    over-the-top way.

    Happy Book Blogger Hop Friday!

  7. @Alison ... you can click on the links in the segment under Martin's section which will take you straight to the book on Amazon. I found the indie authors by first requesting to review Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble by H.P. Mallory. I soon found others via Amazon, Smashwords and H.P. Mallory's Site for Indie authors. Which is ... http://indieurbanfantasy.com
