On My Wishlist

Author: Richelle Mead
Release Date: Dec 7, 2010

Murder. Love. Jealousy. And the ultimate sacrifice. Now, with Rose on trial for her life and Lissa first in line for the Royal Throne, nothing will ever be the same between them.

I have only read the first book in the Vampire Academy series, but for some reason the minute that I found out this one was coming out I wanted it. There is no method to my madness seeing I haven't read all the books leading up to this one yet, but I do have them on my Kindle so maybe it is the thought that I want to complete the series on my Kindle, in the off chance that I have a spur of the moment Richelle Mead hankering, I can read them all in one swoop.

Author: Inara Scott
Release Date: Aug 24, 2010

Dancia Lewis is far from popular. And that's not just because of her average grades or her less-than-glamorous wardrobe. In fact, Dancia's mediocrity is a welcome cover for her secret: whenever she sees a person threatening someone she cares about, things just...happen. Cars skid. Structures collapse. Usually someone gets hurt.  So Dancia does everything possible to avoid getting close to anyone, belieiving this way she can supress her powers and keep them hidden.
But when recruiters from the prestigious Delcroix Academy show up in her living room to offer her a full scholarship, Dancia's days of living under the radar may be over. Only, Delcroix is a school for diplomats' kids and child geniuses--not B students with uncontrollable telekinetic tendencies.  So why are they treating Dancia like she's special? Even the hottest guy on campus seems to be going out of his way to make Dancia feel welcome.
And then there's her mysterious new friend Jack, who can't stay out of trouble. He suspects something dangerous is going on at the Academy and wants Dancia to help him figure out what.  But Dancia isn't convinced. She hopes that maybe the recruiters know more about her "gift" than they're letting on. Maybe they can help her understand how to use it...But not even Dancia could have imagined what awaits her behind the gates of Delcroix Academy.
This book looks really good! I have read some reviews on it, which all seem very favorable. The description is awesome. I think the cover could have been better though... Its not very attractive in my opinion, but I suppose it goes back to, you can't judge a book by its cover... but it sure does help! Anyways I do believe that I will be picking up this book at some point... I just can't resist that description!

That is whats On My Wishlist this week... whats on yours?

Hollowland Review

Title: Hollowland
Author: Amanda Hocking
Release Date: Sept 28, 2010
Publisher: Indie

"This is the way the world ends - not with a bang or a whimper, but with zombies breaking down the back door."

Nineteen-year-old Remy King is on a mission to get across the wasteland left of America, and nothing will stand in her way - not violent marauders, a spoiled rock star, or an army of flesh-eating zombies.

Remy is in a quarantine with her brother Max, the quarantine is to protect the uninfected humans from the infected ones. The world has been taken over my humans who got an infection which ended up turning them into zombies. One night the quarantine is attacked by zombies, causing Remy to go find her brother Max who is in the medical ward. By the time she reaches the person who took care of Max, her brother has already been moved on to a new quarantine leaving Remy behind.

Remy has to find Max no matter what the cost. With her she has one of the girls that was in the quarantine with her named Harlow. Together they head north to find where Remy's brother was taken. Along the way they also meet up with Lazlo and Blue, two boys who are also trying to find a safe place and food and water, which these days are quite scarce. Remy slowly starts developing feelings for Lazlo, but can she afford to let her emotions get the best of her? Will she find Max or did he never make it to the new quarantine? Only time and many miles will tell.

This was the best Halloween read yet. I love anything written by Amanda Hocking, she has a way of bring the story and characters alive in ways that I have never seen before. I love how Remy is a kick ass chick who acts and takes names later. She doesn't hesitate to protect those that she cares for and will try to save those she loves even if it means dying. Remy develops feelings for one of the people she has met along the way, Lazlo. Lazlo used to be a rockstar before the world fell apart. He can be arrogant, annoying and an idiot, which Remy is not afraid to tell him. There is awkward situations, romance, violence, blood, gore and zombies... what more could you want? I did have one major issue with Hollowland! The MAJOR cliffhanger ending! It was HUGE! I mean what the hell Amanda... that's just messed up! How could you leave it off like that? Now I will be waiting on pins and needles for the next book to come out. Hopefully it will be soon, or I might just go crazy with wondering...

NOTE: You can pick up Hollowland by Amanda Hocking on the Kindle for 2.99 and in paperback for 8.99 ... You won't be disappointed!

My Jack O' Lantern

Happy Halloween!

Hey everyone... Happy Halloween! I just wanted to share the pumpkin that I carved with my family tonight... I thought it came out pretty well... can you tell who it is? I based it off of someone else's pumpkin that I found on the internet, theirs was much better but I think mine is pretty good too... seeing that I free handed this based off a photo on the computer. Let me know what you think of my Jack- O Lantern ... What a fitting name :)

This week asks...

"What is the one bookish thing you would love to have, no matter the cost?"

If I could have one bookish this no matter what the cost I think that I would have to say.... I want to own! I could have unlimited books all the time! What would be better than that? A new book come out that you want... stroll into the warehouse and pick up a copy!... you know why? cause you can! you own Amazon WOOT WOOT! Just the thought of unlimited books makes me want to dance a little... in fact I think I just might *Busts a move* OHHHH YEAH! Okay so I know I can't really own Amazon and get free books... but what a freakin awesome idea!

Julie @ My 5 Monkeys Asks...

If you have, or would have a daughter, what book would you want your daughter to read?

My daughter is still very young, she is only 7 months old. So she isn't reading on her own just yet but... there is a book that she loves and that we love reading to her. Its called My Name Is Not Isabella  by Jennifer Fosberry. Its a great read for kids, obviously targeted at little girls, its educational but fun! Its about a little girl that takes on the names of women that changed the world and their roles for different parts of the book. It is really cute and fun, so I suppose if I had to chose any book for Maddie to read right now, it would  definitely be My Name Is Not Isabella by Jennifer Fosberry.

Trailer Thursday Halloween Addition!

Trailer Thursday: Halloween Addition!
Okay so it's no secret... I LOVE Halloween, so I figured for this Trailer Thursday I would concentrate on Halloween Trailer Teasers :)

I have yet to read Eternal, I never thought that it would be a book that I was interested in, but after checking out this trailer... I would have to say that I am very interested in reading it... maybe DYING to read it! MHUAHAHA!

Again another book that I haven't read... I am starting to feel a little deprived with all this Halloweeny goodness! I do have Low Red Moon and I believe that I intend on starting it today, after seeing that Delicious trailer! If you liked it leave me a comment and let me know!

The Hollow just seems like the perfect book to read on a Halloween night! It has paranormal goodness... a secret and a dashing leading man... what more could you ask for? I believe that this is what I will be reading while everyone is out collecting yummy goodies and being haunted by those pesky ghosties.

Zombies Don't Trick Or Treat Review

Title: Zombies Don't Trick Or Treat
Author: Rusty Fischer
Release Date: Unknown
Publisher: Indie
Source: Smashwords

Costume? Check. Candy? Check. Zombies? Uh oh..

First off, just so that you all know, this isn't exactly a story. Its  a Halloween poem written by Rusty Fischer. It is 583 words in length.

I thought this poem was just awesome for Halloween. It is cute with a zombie whim... hint the name of the book. Its about a boy named Chester who is newly a zombie and is out on Halloween night. I bet you will never guess what he is trick or treating for... muah-hahahaha!
I got this poem off of Smashwords... if you click on the name of the book under the title description, it will take you directly to the page where you can find it. Did I mention its also free? A great little Halloween Tidbit!

NOTE: I rated this on novelty and cute factor.

The Werewolf Upstairs Review

Author: Ashlyn Chase
Release Date: Feb 1, 2011
Publisher: Source Books
Source: Author (Thanks Ashlyn!)

Desperate for change, public defender Roz Wells decides moving into a new apartment is just what she needs to shake things up. But she'll get more than she bargained for when she starts dating the drop dead gorgeous boy next door, who just happens to be a shape-shifter...and quite possibly a criminal. Security salesman Konrad Wolfensen has made a living staging break-ins to spook people into buying his security system, but when he's accused of a much more serious crime, he'll have to enlist the help of his sexy new neighbor/girlfriend to keep his cute, slightly wild rear end out of jail.

Roz Wells has moved to Boston to be closer to her job and closer her her best friend Merry. Little did she know that she would be living in a building of paranormals!

Roz has just moved into her best friend Merry's apartment building, when she see's her sexy, strong, unbelievably handsome neighbor Konrad. Roz would like nothing more than to be noticed by Konrad , but what could he see in her? She is an over-weight lawyer, that dislikes her job and has low self-esteem... little does she know Konrad has noticed her.

Konrad has just met the new neighbor Roz Wells, and wow she is the most beautiful thing he has ever seen. Though Konrad has a secret that could destroy any relationship that he makes with Roz... He is a werewolf!

The day after moving into her new apartment Roz goes to meet her new client (she's a public defender) ...but when she walks into the interrogation room she never thought her new client would also be her new neighbor and love interest.

I absolutely loved The Werewolf Upstairs. In Ashlyn's last book Strange Neighbors, it mentions Roz a little bit, but I really wanted to know more about her. What a great sequel! Roz is complex, strong, stubborn, determined and has image issues... like most of us do. She can't get over that she is over weight and a hottie like Konrad could possibly be interested in her, but he is wholeheartedly. I love how their relationship develops from being shy and uncertain, to a definite love for each other. There is no lack of delicious steamy romance, that will keep you turning pages and wanting more. Konrad seduced Roz and The Werewolf Upstairs seduced me!
